4th choice, who was he behind. Any proof of this? I think Roy is the best English manager available. Harry has far too much baggage, and skeletons in his closet. The FA were right not to take the risk on him. The media notably the Sun seem to be against Roy from the start, so he is probably doomed to fail. I still think it was stupid to fire Capello, he was getting the best out of a limited English team. |

Well for the first time in 20 years we seem to have appointed a manager with some experiance of international management. Good. I'll also point out that the last public choice was Kevin Keegan. Look how that turned out. And the Sun's headline this morning is, quite frankly, a fraking disgrace. Posted Image |

Good choice for the England role.....and I'm pleased we have a permanent man in the role in time for the Euros :applause: Hodgson is a top notch coach He got slated for his record at Liverpool and allegedly being unable to manage big or problematic players ...... There's no real proof to that statement Well, I don't know what the Liverpool fans were thinking when they demanded Kenny Dalglish to return in place of Roy They failed to win at home again last night......They had a Carling Cup win by virtue of PK 's against a Championship side but their PL record especially at home has been abysmal ......Was Hodgson's record as bad as King Kenny's ?? feed.back |

It was a disgraceful headlines by the sun taking the **** out of his speech impediment. With media like this roy has no chance of succeeding. It should also be noted that when capello left several top stars tweeted for redknapp to be given the job. Yesterday on hearing the announcement hardly any top player bothered to tweet anything. Those two things combined will see roy have big problems in getting the whole squad to buy into his new regime. |

I agree, Clapton. I think Hodgson is a top-class, very experienced manager who can do very well for England if some of those players who have over-inflated egos will give him the chance and not work to their own agendas like they did at Liverpool. |

When he was sacked from liverpool I didn't hear a thing about his coaching abilities. As soon as he was in the frame for the england job we started to hear how long and boring his training sessions were. He is on a hiding to nothing with the players against him before he has even started. I am just glad stevie gerrard came out yesterday in support. |

Roy Hodgson is a fine choice for England manager. An experienced international coach who understands the continental style and who has proven with Fulham and West Brom that he can do a good job with limited recourses. His record at Liverpool was no worse than 'King' Kenny Dalglish and unlike Dalglish he didn't get £100million to spend. Unfortunately he will not be given a chance by our national press. 'Arry is the media darling and so the knives were out for Roy before he was even confirmed. As far as they are concerned the wrong man is in the job and as soon as we have one mediocre result they will slaughter him. We're not good enough to win the Euro's, anyone with an ounce of rational thought can see that, but as soon as we go out the press will be full of stories of how we'd have definitely won if 'Arry was in charge. He'll be made the scapegoat for everything that goes wrong and suffer the same treatment Steve McClaren did. Mark my words. |

The treatment of Roy by the S.c.u.m. is truely pathetic. It would seem that the recent Leveson Inquiry, that the Dirty Digger attended, has made no difference to his standards Problem..... Jeffrey Archer,Joseph Stalin and The Dirty Digger. You have two bullets, who ya gonna kill. Shoot the Dirty Digger twice, just to make sure. |

I'm pleased with this appointment. Redknapp is so over-rated. He's won one trophy in his managing career and has no international experience. Roy is the man, and I hope he can do really well and change the attitude of squad. First thing he needs to do, is get rid of all the 'deadwood' and players who will perhaps cause disruption; - Ferdinand - Lampard - Terry, A Cole etc. and start to focus on the future and players who will respect him and will be determined to play for England. |
